If you're visiting Vienna, you're probably planning to visit Schönbrunn Palace. This former summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty is a symbol of Austrian imperial history, with stunning architecture and spectacular gardens. If you want to round off the experience, I'd recommend eating at this restaurant right next to Schönbrunn Palace, Restaurant Joseph II – Das Schloss-Restaurant Schönbrunn.

A restaurant with history
Located in the heart of Schönbrunn Palace, the Joseph II restaurant combines Viennese culinary tradition with a modern touch. You'll find dishes made with fresh ingredients and a good selection of Austrian wines. Its elegant atmosphere and terrace overlooking the vineyards make it an ideal place to eat in Vienna.

What did we order?
Our experience at Joseph II was exceptional. Here's what we ordered:
Drinks: we started with two jugs of homemade lemonade, refreshing and delicious.
Starters:
- Beef soup.
- Steak tartare, served with toasted bread.

Main courses:
- Pork schnitzel and veal schnitzel, both crispy and tasty, served with potato salad and green leaves.
- Spinach dumplings.

Desserts:
- Kaiserschmarrn, a traditional Austrian dessert of caramelised shredded pancake, served with plum compote.
- Apple strudel.
- Viennese iced coffee.

Price and value for money
The price per person is around €35-40. It's not an expensive restaurant compared with Vienna prices. In my opinion, it offers excellent value for money given the location, the quality of the dishes and the service.

Is it worth it?
