Cookies Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
At Medio Hippie we use as few cookies as possible, and our own analytics is cookieless (no Google Analytics, no Matomo). The only third-party cookies come from the booking widgets of our travel partners via Travelpayouts (such as GetYourGuide), and they load only if you accept them. We explain this below.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser — for example, to remember your preferences between visits. Similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage), serve comparable purposes and follow the same rules.
Strictly necessary storage (exempt from consent)
When you choose “Accept” or “Reject” in the cookie notice, we save that choice in your browser’s local storage (an entry called mh-consent) so we don’t ask you again on every page. This stays on your device, is never sent to any server, and is exempt from consent because it’s strictly necessary to remember your choice.
Third-party cookies: travel partner widgets
Some guides include booking widgets from our travel partners via Travelpayouts (for example, GetYourGuide). When loaded, the partner sets its own cookies to record the visit and attribute bookings. They only load if you accept; if you reject, the widget doesn’t appear and the third party receives no data and sets no cookies. Each partner processes your data under its own privacy policy (for example, the GetYourGuide privacy policy).
Managing or withdrawing your consent
- On the site: click “Cookie settings” in the footer to bring the notice back and change your choice.
- In your browser: you can block or delete cookies at any time from its settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
If you withdraw consent, travel partner widgets will stop loading on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the cookies we use change. The “last updated” date shows the latest revision.
