The only thing the little one asked for this year for her third birthday was to go to Las Palmas. So I had to find a place in Gran Canaria to spend an unforgettable birthday. After weighing up several options, we settled on the Angry Birds Activity Park, a children’s park themed around the Angry Birds video game. Will you join us for a tour of the park?

What is the Angry Birds Park?

Angry Birds Activity Park is a theme park whose activities and decor are based on the famous Angry Birds app by Rovio. It’s located in Puerto Rico, in the south of Gran Canaria. The park opened in 2013 and has more than 5,000 m² of fun, for kids and adults alike.

Attractions at the Angry Birds Park

Across the park’s more than 5,000 m² there are all kinds of activities to keep both young and old entertained: a water area, zip lines, trampolines, a skating area, swings, a mini pedal-karting track, a climbing wall, a laser maze, a kids’ area, mini golf, a ball pool, and so on.

Where is the Angry Birds Activity Park?

The Angry Birds Activity Park is in Puerto Rico, in the municipality of Mogán in the south of Gran Canaria. The address is Urbanización Puerto Rico, Av. de la Cornisa, 2, 35130 Mogán.

If you go by car, you can park near the Angry Birds Park, though it’s all blue zone. Instead of paying for a couple of hours, I recommend paying €6, which is what it costs to park for 24 hours in the blue zone in the municipality of Mogán. Better to go early, as Puerto Rico is a very touristy area and it’s not easy to find parking if you arrive mid-morning.

How to get to the Angry Birds Park by public transport?

You can get to Angry Birds Activity Park by bus, or guagua as we call it here, on lines 170 and 90. The park is right next to the bus station and a taxi rank.

If you’re coming from Las Palmas, from the bus station (El Hoyo) you can take bus line 91 run by the Global transport company, heading to Playa del Cura (Puerto Rico stop).

The Angry Birds Park in Gran Canaria opens Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00 to 18:00.

How much does it cost to get into the Angry Birds Park?

Where to eat at the Angry Birds Park?

The park has a Snack Bar with a terrace where you can eat. The food is the usual snack-bar fare: nuggets, pizzas, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc. They offer adult menus and kids’ menus.

We went out to eat. With the wristband they put on you when you enter the park, you can come and go as many times as you like.

Our experience at the Angry Birds Activity Park

One of the main reasons I chose the Angry Birds Park for a family day out was the fact that most of its attractions are outdoors.

I went thinking we were heading to the typical ball-pool park and that we wouldn’t stay more than a couple of hours. Within just a few minutes, I realised the Angry Birds Park was nothing like the typical ball-pool park. We enjoyed the facilities almost until the park closed.

There are activities for everyone, and something I loved was that while you queue for the attractions, there are misting sprinklers that make waiting in the sun more pleasant.

Tips for visiting the Angry Birds Park

To make your visit to the Angry Birds Activity Park in Gran Canaria a real success, I recommend bringing the following:

• Swimsuit and towel

There’s a water activities area, so don’t forget your swimsuit. They won’t let you go on the activities wet, so don’t forget to pack a towel too.

• Socks and comfortable footwear

As there are water activities and others where footwear is compulsory, I recommend a shoe that’s easy to slip on and off, or even some water shoes, which they can wear for all the activities. I recommend socks for the trampolines or places where you can go barefoot, because I find it more hygienic.

• Sun cream

Remember that Puerto Rico is in the south of Gran Canaria and the weather is almost always lovely. Although the park has plenty of shaded areas, the kids will spend most of the time in the sun, so to avoid burns don’t forget to bring a good sun cream.

At the park there are lockers — just ask for the key at the entrance. That way you can leave anything you won’t need and enjoy the park without carrying your bag around everywhere.

• Buy your tickets in advance

You know I always recommend buying tickets in advance, especially when it’s a theme park. If you don’t plan your visit to the Angry Birds Park ahead of time, it could be full when you arrive and you might not get in.

Absolutely. The Angry Birds Activity Park is much more than a ball-pool park: it has outdoor attractions for all ages, a water area and plenty of space to spend the whole day. For a family with kids in the south of Gran Canaria, it’s a safe bet.
