When you travel with kids, you become an expert in playgrounds, as they're a must-stop wherever you go. On our trip to the island of La Gomera, we visited several parks, but our favourite by far was Parque de El Curato in Hermigua.
On the way to our accommodation in Agulo, Las Casas del Chorro, we spotted a lovely park from the car. So on the last day of our holiday, we decided to explore Hermigua and visit Parque de El Curato.

What to see: the animals
As soon as you enter the park, you'll find a sign with the rules, which basically ask you to respect both the plants and the animals. The main draw of Parque de El Curato is the animals that live there: ducks, geese, swans and a few hens.
Ducks and geese live in the park's pond, which a small bridge also crosses. There were lots of baby ducklings and this was the girls' favourite part.
The playground
At the far end of the park there's a Canarian wrestling ring, where the playground is. Little ones can play and have fun in the play area, which has a slide, swings, etc.
When we visited, the play area didn't have much shade, something to keep in mind if you go with young children in high summer. The park was renovated in 2023, so this may have changed.
Right opposite the park there's a café-cake shop where you can have something; it's called café El Tabaibal and it has a terrace.
